Muslim Friendly
For the property or service that keeps offering alcohol and wants to serve Muslim guests with verifiable guarantees.

Halal certification in the region was born from food exports. Its procedures are made for plants, batches and shipments. A hotel operates differently: it has high season, staff turnover, banquets that change every week and a guest who judges in the moment. We do not adapt an agri-food procedure to tourism. We built one from tourism.

What people ask us before deciding.
What is halal certification?
It is the confirmation, by an independent body and with evidence, that a service meets published halal requirements. In tourism it covers food and beverage, lodging, transport, spa and events.
What is the difference between halal and Muslim Friendly?
Halal Certified and Sharia Compliant require zero alcohol and zero pork in their scope. Muslim Friendly certifies care for the Muslim guest in a property that may keep offering alcohol outside the scope.
Do I have to stop selling alcohol?
Not necessarily. With Muslim Friendly, alcohol can remain outside the certified area; within the halal service area, it cannot. Halal Certified and Sharia Compliant do require zero alcohol in their scope.
Does my establishment become exclusive to Muslims?
No. It welcomes any guest as usual. Certification shows, with evidence, that certain services meet specific requirements.
Can I certify only a part?
Yes. Certification is by scope: a restaurant, a service or several sectors. The exception is Sharia Compliant, which covers the whole property.
Do I need Islamic financing?
Only for Sharia Compliant, and only with respect to the financing of the property and of the company that operates it. Muslim Friendly and Halal Certified allow conventional bank financing.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your scope: sectors, level, number and type of units, locations, complexity, travel, estimated duration of the assessment and supervision visits. With your application we send you a tailored quote.
Will you help us implement it?
We provide no consulting to those we certify: that is what makes the seal worth something. The standard is public and tells you exactly what is assessed.
Are you accredited?
No. Muslim Friendly Halal Certification is not accredited under ISO/IEC 17065 or ISO/IEC 17024, nor recognized by any accreditation body, national or foreign. What you can check: published standards, whoever assesses does not decide, and every number is verified online.
Do you accept my meat supplier?
Yes, if its meat and poultry hold a valid halal certificate from a body on our public list of recognized bodies. If the body is not on the list, we review its certificate to decide whether to accept it.
Does certifying my staff help certify my hotel?
No. They are separate certifications: having certified staff gives no score or preferential treatment in the assessment of your establishment. The only link: in Sharia Compliant, the certification of your Compliance Manager is one of two ways to demonstrate their competence.
Do you certify food products or plants?
No. We certify tourism and hospitality services, and people. For a product or a plant, look for a product certification body.
Do you certify outside Cancún?
Yes, throughout Mexico, always with an on-site assessment. Outside the country we review each application case by case.
